In war-torn 15th century Japan, a savage orphan does whatever it takes to survive in the wilderness of Kyoto. When he crosses paths with civilization, he must learn to keep his basic instincts in check. State-of-the-art animation, spectacular action, philosophical reflection, vampirism and cannibalism all combine into an unforgettable animation film experience.

Keiichi SATO, born in Kagawa Prefecture in 1965, is a director of several animation series made for television, such as TIGER & BUNNY (2011). He mainly works as character designer and animation supervisor for animation series. ASURA marks his feature film debut.
